How to make lasting lifestyle changes with an Integrative Health & Nutrition CoachDec 01, 2022
You know what your best self should look like, but you don’t know exactly how to get there or you’re struggling to persist.

A H&N Coach gives you the tools you need to reach your goals and change your behaviour for good. It’s not just about giving you a road map and sending you on your way, nooo, a H&N Coach asks the right questions and keeps you accountable, you have support at every hurdle.

Changing your lifestyle is not done within one week or one month, nor is it helpful to change all at once! To make lasting change, the big picture needs to be broken down into achievable steps.
Take your time, see your coach as your sparing partner and analyse why you have these behaviours and where are your limits until now.
And procrastination is also a big word...
When I started changing my lifestyle ten years ago, there wasn’t a health coach around.
I did a lot of research, read books, attended courses and studied. It took me a long time because there was nobody to ask me the right questions or for me to discuss my problems.
I only asked myself the questions I had the answers to, the ones that didn’t inspire change. I procrastinated a lot and went back to my old habits quickly. My mindset told me that it was too hard and there was always an excuse for why I couldn’t change.
When I eventually found my coach, it felt like coming home. There was somebody who asked me questions I never thought of asking and she gave me the feeling that I am right to question my path. She kept me accountable. I was supported and empowered, and I knew I could achieve anything I desired!
It's more than nutrition
Nutrition & Health Coaching is not only about healthy eating. Yes, good food is essential but it is a secondary source of energy.
Joshua Rosenthal, the founder of IIN says, "primary food goes beyond the plate, nurturing us on a deeper level."
The four Primary Foods are:
- Physical Activity
- Mental Health
Do you remember when you were deeply in love? This nice cosy feeling, when life is/was full of joy. Or when you were aligned with a project where you dove in and felt in a flow state? You probably felt nurtured and satisfied without eating a lot.
We often use food to fill a void in our life, or we neglect our healthy habits. When we start to take a more holistic approach to life and tend to each of our "Primary Foods" equally, we are then able to find balance and moderation.
Anything is possible when you desire it
Often, without even realizing it, we work on achieving goals that aren’t even ours to start. With a coach, you reflect on your aims and goals and the motivation behind them.
Are these the goals you really want to achieve or do you feel you have to do this because it is mainstream or expected of you?
When you find the goals you truly desire to achieve, you will begin to feel the shift in your motivation and mindset.
That’s the first step, realising what you want.
Here are some tips on how to discover what you want:
- Start with very small habit changes and trust yourself to set goals
- Write your goals down and talk about it
- Get help from family and friends who love and support you
- Monitor your path and recognise obstacles
Believe in yourself
To achieve goals, you have to feel confident and trust yourself the most.
Recognize what you’re good at and remember how it felt the last time you achieved a goal - I’m sure there are goals you have achieved in the past. Reflect on those and how you felt. Let this feeling arise and bring this feeling into the present.
And for that extra boost, always surround yourself with people who support you. People who you trust and cheer you up on your new path.
